Time to mod: from normal gadget to custom treasure
One of the funnest things I like to do to get away from this and that is to sit down and “mod” something (take a gadget, some piece of furniture, really anything that you don’t mind breaking or messing up, and “modifying” it however you like).

In this example, I took a little dj mix board (Numark M2) that I had at the house and gave it a little retro flare. - A few hours later I had a completely custom board.

This was supposed to be about Church Media ideas, then I fell down a rabbit hole.
There is a great deal going on in my mind at this moment. For some time now I’ve had a churning of ideas, mostly relating to how we, as a whole, experience church. Specifically related to the media driven devices and nuances we seem to have entrenched ourselves in as a church culture.
To be perfectly honest, I do not intend for this post to accomplish its intended purpose - as I start to write I have a feeling that this entry (meaning to be) about sharing some ideas for creative ways to change the media aspect of church as we know it may very quickly fall into a rabbit hole of

Why are you limiting yourself to Denton?

Anonymous
Not exactly sure why you are under the impression that I am limited to Denton. I am currently working with clients in multiple parts of the state, and country… as well as overseas.
I’m slowly adding some of my most recent work on flickr. Check back often for updates. Also streaming the feed on my site.
Church Media Workshop
A few days ago I posted an idea I had on Facebook to host a workshop of sorts for church media leaders. Based on the feedback online and off I am strongly considering pursuing this in the near future.
Here’s what I’m thinking. I want to do really break down some areas that many churches seem to have struggles with in the areas of media (audio, visual, etc) and do some teaching on some basic principles that will (I believe) help everyone.
From there I also want to get some input before hand on some specific issues that people seem to be having with their own media areas, and put together some solutions that we can discuss at the workshop.
In addition to all those sorts of things, I’d also like to have a brainstorming time, where we can all share ideas for the future, as well as things that we think are our strengths, to further construct a community of media leaders in the church.
To make sure everyone’s time is honored, I will be specifically asking people who really want to be here. This will not be an ice cream social type get together. Although those are great, I understand how busy everyone (especially the people I am targeting) is, and I want to make the most out of our time. Thinking about a Saturday possibly in January of February, but I’ll try and schedule it around the people that want to come. To make sure I don’t get a bunch of people who just want to come to hang out there will probably be a cover charge of some sort. I will probably do a per-person charge, maybe a “church team” discount as well.

Let me know what you guys think. Give me some ideas for common (or not so common) issues that people may be having in the realms of church media.
